Stress Management

Stress Management is controlling and reducing tension that occurs in stressful situations by making emotional and physical changes. It improves our life, health and relationships.

The 4 A’s of Stress Management: Avoid, Alter, Accept and Adapt.

  1. Avoid: Because you go through a lot of stress, you simply feel like avoiding some of the stressors. But avoiding a problem doesn’t always work. Thus, you need to start taking control of your environment, you need to learn to make boundaries to be able to say ‘no’. Learn to prioritize your work.
  2. Alter: When avoiding a problem is not available, you need to know how you can alter a situation. Keep working towards things that help you solve problems so that it helps you change your situation better. Learn to communicate your feelings better and take some time for yourself.
  3. Accept: Sometimes you will have no choice but to accept how things have turned out. Learn to move on and work towards how things can take a better turn. Learn from your past mistakes, talk to someone about how you’re feeling. Practice positive self-talk.
  4. Adapt: Thinking that a particular problem broke you and it is difficult to get back up on your toes is one of the greatest stressors. It doesn’t allow you to work towards yourself. Learn to adapt to situations and new environment, it helps in dealing with stress effectively.

In life, you can’t remove all the stress. All you can do is try to react in different ways that cause you less worry. There are always steps available that you can take to protect yourself, improve your job satisfaction and your well-being from the negative effects of stress.
