Creating a safe and balanced work environment is an added atmosphere that is encouraging in nature. This is essential for employees in organisations as it helps them in a number of ways.

A healthy workplace environment improves efficiency and cuts expenses related to absenteeism, turnover, and medical claims. It is not difficult to create a healthy lifestyle and thus employers and others who care for their employees need to do so. It sure may seem difficult to find ways to set up such an environment but it definitely can be done even if it is step by step.

Ways That Could Help Create A Safe & Balanced Work Environment:

Open Communication:

Getting to know each other as employees and getting to know your employees by speaking to them and being vulnerable to them. If not on a personal level, learn to be vulnerable during work hours. Being honest with one and other, giving and receiving feedback well are all good ways of open communication and being vulnerable. All in turn helps employees understand each other better. A word of caution here, do not use being vulnerable as a way to control someone’s action. It is in no means correct.

Promote Wellness:

Under this comes healthy lifestyle. So, whether it’s exercise, sports, or a once a week activity, it is good to motivate your employees to do so. At the same time being able to have such activities once a while among the teams in the organisation or even being able to provide certain coupons to such activities are a great start.

Build Trust:

Make sure all the employees are shown care. Be kind to them and show compassion to them in different forms, one of which is by listening to them. This can make one feel heard and cared for. At times being able to support them among their issues could be a wonderful form of compassion. But such support is best given based on boundaries maintained between employees. Having done all this the core built here is trust. We all know it is difficult to trust anyone even when you know them for years, so thus being helpful obviously does not make someone trust you completely or 100 percent but it definitely increases the amount of trust they previously had on you.

Team Building Activities:

Team building activities help with productivity and work like ice breakers that create more communication among employees than usual. These activities can lead to forming of strong bonds among employees and thus helps make the work environment more efficient and positive. Team building activities don’t have to be something huge, they could be as simple as playing a game of charades.

Employee Assistance Programs are a huge benefit for organisations as they can avail for counselling services that are not limited to just the employees, but other managers and remaining staff of the organisation.
